The new non-profit Doberman Diversity Project. Science. Hope.
The non-profit 501(c)3 Doberman Diversity Project (DDP) grew organically from the frustration and heartbreak of losing so many beloved Dobermans to genetic diseases which have been amplified by decades of traditional inbreeding approaches across the world. The DDP is comprised of a team of licensed veterinarians, canine Ph.D. geneticists from the USA's most respected Universities, and respected Individuals from across the globe with experience with, and knowledge about, the Doberman breed.
This global Doberman citizen-science project is embracing an evidence-based approach (merging Endangered Species Preservation Science, Canine Genetics, and Pedigree Analysis) to support research into Doberman genetic disease to support our community's efforts to preserve the genetic diversity that remains and breed the healthiest, longest lived Dobermans possible.
